The Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), Mr. Umana Okon Umana, has distanced himself from the sponsorship of campaign posters and membership of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s 2019 presidential campaign team.

According to Umana, one Thomas Thomas was handed a malicious script to act by Senator John Akpanudoedehe who is yet to recover from defeat he suffered when they robbed shoulders in the 2014 All Progressive Congress’ (APC’s) governorship primary election in Akwa Ibom State.

A statement signed and made available to Economic Times by Iboro Otongaran, Special Assistance on Media to Umana, said “Thomas falsely claimed that Umana has been appointed the Campaign Coordinator for Akwa Ibom State for the Alhaji Abubakar Atiku 2019 presidential project.”

According to him” Thomas used an old photograph which has nothing to do with the story in a failed attempt to mislead the public, the claim by Thomas is absolutely false.”

Umana, who urged the public to be watchful of Akpanudoedehe and his associates’ political deceit, reiterated his total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s political ambition.

“Umana remains totally committed and loyal to His Excellency, President Muhamadu Buhari.

“We therefore advise members of the public to disregard the said publication and its claims against Umana Okon Umana,” the statement reassured.

Setting the record straight, the statement declared that “Mr. Umana has not been appointed campaign coordinator for Abubakar Atiku Campaign.

“Since Umana was appointed the chief executive officer of OGFZA he has taken a break from politics and has given full attention to the task of ensuring that the free zones are effectively deployed to contribute to the realization of the goals of the Economic Growth and Recovery Plan of the Federal Government,” he said.
