Dr. Mrs. Ori Obasi, a former commissioner for Education and presently the APC Woman Leader in Abia State has unveiled “Ideas and oppourtunities for wealth creation”: A revolution to create future millionaires.
The 274 paged book is about the challenges youths face in securing employment after graduation and the need to nip it in the bud.
Dignitaries from all works of life attended the book launch at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, on Thursday.
Among whom were Hajiya Hajo Sani, Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, Nigera’s Honourable Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah, Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Dr. Chris Akomas, Deputy Chief Whip of Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha, APC National Woman Leader, Hajiya Salamatu Eluma, Immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, APC Governorship Candidate in the 2015 General election, Chief Nyerere Anyim, President General of Asaga Ohafia Development Union, Chief Iheanacho Ukaha, National Youth Service Corp Members and delagation of undergraduates from the various Universities in the FCT.
Frontline gospel preacher, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Kalu, Chief Marc Wabara and SMEDAN Boss were all represented at the book launch.
Afterwards, Barr. Mrs Chigozie Alice Olugu did a thorough job in reviewing the book. Barr. Olugu revealed that the book is designed to create a generation of Multi Millionares through entreprenuership.
In her address, the author of the book, Dr. Mrs. Ori Obasi, said the global trend in entrepreneurial development informed her decision to write the book, saying the content of the book would change the narrative in youths who always wait for white-collar jobs to remain gainfully employed and turn them to employers of labour.
According to Dr. Obasi, the problem of unemployment has become worrisome, calling for an urgent action.
“The intention of this book is to rewrite the usual narrative of school leavers about joblessness. Although the Federal Government has great initiatives such as the Niger-Delta youth programmes, central bank agricultural programmes, trader money, among others, but with all the palliatives many are still unemployment and government cannot do it alone.
“To avert this trend, there is a heightened emphasis on entrepreneurial education with focus on inculcating youths with innovative ideas for private enterprise,” she said.
The intention of the book is to change the landscape and have Nigerian youths characterised by job creation and not job seeking, she said.
Minister of state for Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Ogah, disclosed that Nigerian youths must key into entrepreneurship for self-development and empowerment.
Ogah said involvement in different entrepreneurial ventures by youths would go a long way in solving the unemployment crisis in the country, while also advancing national development.
