The Director General National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Mr. Jelani Aliyu, MFR, has reiterated the Council’s commitment to develop Nigerian youth across the country. He disclosed this at the Grand Finale of Katsina National Talent Hunt Challenge, season two held on Thursday 16th February, 2023 in Katsina State.
In his remarks, the NADDC helmsman applauded the Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, RT. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, for the initiative of the Katsina State Government in harnessing the talents of the young people in the State.
“I am indeed beyond words in trying to explain how excited and honoured I am to once again be in Katsina for this great occasion. That we are all gathered here today is testimony to the unprecedented leadership of Your Excellency”.
He charged other Nigerian youth across the country to focus more on harnessing their talents, adding that Nigerians would benefit more if similar programmes are initiated by other states governments.
” We are on a journey and the only way we can get to the right destination is if the youth are committed to developing themselves: that is, understand their talents, showcase and further develop them”.
He explained that the National Automotive Design and Development Council, in addition to other programmes geared towards developing the youth, has built an Automotive Centre of Excellence in Katsina State to further engage young Nigerians by providing an enabling platform for them to create a better future.
Presenting the recent giant strides of the Council, Jelani stressed on the need to buy Made-in-Nigeria vehicles, he also seized the opportunity to showcase the first made-in-Nigeria Kona electric vehicle.
In his speech at the Prize Presentation Ceremony, His Excellency, Governor Aminu Bello Masari, revealed that the Talent Hunt Competition was borne out of the desire of the Katsina State Government to develop the potential talents of the youth in the state and Nigeria at large. He congratulated the participants and urged all the winners to use the prizes won judiciously for the benefit of humanity.
The competition that registered over 100 participants/ winners was of different categories as follows – the Arts & Design Category, Automotive Model & Products Category, ICT Category and Music & Entertainment Category.
All the participants received prizes in monetary value including the two overall winners who each won a Honda Accord car.
