Governor Siminalayi Fubara, facing potential impeachment in River State, vehemently denied any wrongdoing, expressing his innocence and commitment to delivering democracy’s benefits to the people.
He made these remarks at the Assembly Complex on Monday, where the House members, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, were initiating the impeachment process.
Fubara challenged them to disclose his alleged offenses to the public. He reassured the citizens of River State that he would address the situation in due course.
The incident was preceded by gunshots and teargas within the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Monday as lawmakers attempted to initiate the impeachment process against Governor Fubara.
Additionally, they suspended the House leader, Edison Ehie, along with some colleagues perceived to be loyal to the governor.
These events followed a fire that erupted at the Assembly Complex the previous Sunday night.
