Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara in attendance as 11 of 13 PDP governors meet in Abuja

The Governor of Rivers State, Simi Fubara, is in attendance as 11 out of 13 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), meet in Abuja.

This will be the first time since his inauguration that the now embattled Governor of Rivers State will be appearing at the party’s Governors’ Forum.

Earlier today, Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, met with Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, in what is widely believed to be a reconciliation meeting.

This is as the party’s National Working Committee, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, called for actors in the seeming disagreement in Rivers State to sheathe their swords, to allow for a peaceful and amicable resolution of the issues arising in the state.

Tops on the agenda of the PDP Governors’ Forum are to discuss strategies for the November 11 off-cycle election, matters arising in Rivers State, and efforts to quell the crisis in the party.

Also in attendance for the first time since his re-election as governor is an ally of the FCT Minister, Governor Seyi Makinde.
