In the face of legal challenges following the elections, the federal legislator representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa remains resolute in the commitment to effective representation. Successfully overcoming these hurdles, town-hall meetings were hosted over the weekend, fostering engagement with diverse stakeholders from Ohafia LGA and Arochukwu LGA.

These sessions, attended by traditional rulers, representatives from development, women’s and youth unions, and the business community, facilitated in-depth discussions about the roadmap for the next 3+ years. In collaboration, an effective approach was devised for the 22 wards to nominate high-priority projects, aiming for inclusion in the National Budgets over the next 4 years.

For the upcoming fiscal year, six priority wards have been identified, with stakeholders currently extending consultations within their communities for impactful project proposals. Notably, these projects exclude Zonal Intervention Projects, which will be addressed separately.

Stakeholders are reminded to submit proposed projects by Saturday, November 25th, aligning with the legislator’s commitment to community-driven development. The announcement of dates for the first constituents’ town hall session is eagerly anticipated, emphasizing the importance of active participation.

Addressing queries about the delay in initiating projects, the legislator clarified the adherence to predetermined budgets and projects set by the predecessor. The opportunity to propose new projects is slated for the next budget cycle, while vigilant oversight ensures the progress of existing projects.

A final warning was issued to Heartland Nigeria Limited, contractors of the Arochukwu-Ohafia road reconstruction project, urging engagement to address concerns. Failure to comply may escalate the matter to the Minister, seeking the cancellation of the contract for capable contractors to take charge.

Expressing gratitude to the constituents of Arochukwu na Ohafia for their trust and support, the legislator looks forward to continued collaboration for the development of the constituency.
