The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) took center stage at the Nigerian-Balkan and African Automotive Conference, a landmark event aimed at driving economic investment and growth within Nigeria’s automotive industry. The conference, hosted at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, was organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI). Themed “Connecting Nations, Empowering Visions: Invest in Nigeria-Balkan Businesses,” the event sought to foster international trade and investment opportunities between Nigeria and Balkan nations.
NADDC’s Director General, Joseph Osanipin, delivered a keynote address that highlighted the significant potential of Nigeria’s automotive sector. He outlined a range of investment opportunities available to international and local investors, emphasizing the strategic initiatives being undertaken by the NADDC to bolster the industry. Among these initiatives is the establishment of industrial parks for automotive parts manufacturing in Anambra and Ogun States, a project designed to attract substantial investment and stimulate the production of automotive components within the country.
“The Nigerian automotive sector is ripe with potential, and we at the NADDC are committed to creating an enabling environment for investors. Our goal is to establish Nigeria as a leading hub for automotive manufacturing and innovation in Africa,” Osanipin stated. He encouraged stakeholders to seize the opportunities presented by the industry’s growth, which is poised to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic development.
Ambassador Nura Rimi, Permanent Secretary of FMITI, represented by Mrs. Orji Jethro, also addressed the conference, highlighting the critical role of the automotive sector in driving economic progress. She noted that the industry is a key contributor to job creation and technological advancement, aligning with the government’s broader objectives for industrialization and economic diversification.
