The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is presently meeting former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, behind closed door.

Atiku arrived the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) at about 1:07pm in company of the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, Senator Ben Bruce, the Director General of Atiku Campaign Organisation, Chief Gbenga Daniel and the former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke.

Atiku, who recently emerged PDP candidate, hopes to convince the former president to support his ambition.

The PDP flag bearer was the vice president when Obasanjo governed Nigeria between 199 and 2007. Both men, however, fell out; with Obasanjo vowing never to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.

On Thursday, the former vice president arrived the home of Mr Obasanjo at about 1:12 p.m. He was accompanied on the visit by the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, and the director general of the Atiku campaign organisation, Gbenga Daniel.

They then went into a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo which was still on as at press time.

Atiku is expected to be the main challenger to President Muhamamdu Buhari in next year’s election.
